Six-year-old Agnes arrived at Every Orphan’s Hope with a thirst for learning. Education quickly became her lifeline, a privilege Agnes immensely enjoyed. But just four years later, circumstances tested her resilience.

The 2020 COVID shutdown hit Zambia hard. Schools remained closed for months on end. Without remote learning options, the foundation of her education eroded quickly.

When school finally reopened, Agnes couldn’t wait to dive back in. But 2022 brought a new challenge. Class enrollment swelled to record levels after the government eliminated all school tuition fees but provided no additional teachers. To accommodate the surge in students, Agnes’ school day became a fraction of what is needed. And with classrooms swelling to 75-100+ students, quality learning suffered.

After years of disrupted education, Agnes has just three years to grasp everything she needs to know for her Grade 12 exams. The results determine her future opportunities.
