Orphan Sunday is a global initiative to raise awareness about the needs of orphaned and vulnerable children around the world and to encourage people to get involved in supporting and caring for them.
The legacy of Orphan Sunday came as a gift from the church in Africa through a Zambian pastor’s passionate call to care for orphans in a community that had been ravaged by AIDS and poverty. Members of the church faced deep needs themselves. But as the service ended, one after another stepped forward with money, food, and other goods – some even taking off their own shoes and placing them in the offering for orphans.
Together, we believe that everyone can do something to help a vulnerable child and family.
