When you meet Mama Precious, it doesn’t take long to sense the depth of her kindness. But what you might not realize at first glance is just how much of that kindness has been shaped by sorrow and redeemed by hope.
Long before she stepped into her role as a relief mother with Every Orphan’s Hope, Precious knew what it meant to feel abandoned. She was only 13 when her mother, the backbone of their family, passed away unexpectedly. Her father, already struggling with a physical disability, did his best to hold the family together. But as his condition worsened, there was no option left. Social welfare was the next step—until a member of their church intervened and offered to raise Precious and her siblings.
That moment changed everything.
“To be taken in by someone who wasn’t family… it shaped me,” she remembers. “I knew I wanted to be that kind of person for someone else one day.”
Her life didn’t get easier from there. Precious endured years without formal schooling, the loss of her first husband just seven months after their daughter was born, and later, the heartbreak of being left to raise children alone after her second husband became an alcoholic and walked away.
But through it all, her faith held steady.
In Lusaka and later in Chongwe, Mama Precious remained an active member of her church. She led worship, taught Sunday school, and quietly served others in need. She took on every kind of job she could find to support her family. She cared for the elderly, helped children with disabilities, and worked as a live-in maid. Each experience, she says, was preparing her heart for something more.
That “something more” came in 2024 when she heard an announcement at church about an opening at Every Orphan’s Hope. She applied, not knowing if anything would come of it. A month later, she received the call that would change her life again. This time, she would be the one offering rescue!

Today, as a relief mother, Mama Precious cares for the children when other Mamas need rest. It is a big responsibility, but it fits her heart perfectly. She says what surprised her most was how warmly the children welcomed her. “There is so much love and unity here,” she shares with a smile. “The children, they just draw you in.”
For someone who grew up without the consistent presence of a mother, her tenderness toward the children in our care is all the more remarkable. Her story is a powerful reminder of what happens when the love of Christ transforms a life, not just for the sake of healing the past but to bring hope to the next generation.
Mama Precious asks for prayer as she steps into this calling. “I’m asking God to give me strength,” she says. “To take me far in this work and to expand my territory.”
