Going Beyond in Care at the Family Homes

The Young Adults program began in 2015 when the first children from the Family Homes reached college age. Since then, it has grown organically, offering support as students complete the 12th grade at the Family Homes and are ready to pursue their dreams of higher education. This year, we’ve introduced a new application process that begins in a student’s senior year, involving an essay, recommendations, and an interview. This step helps emphasize the privilege and opportunity of pursuing higher education within an independent environment. To ensure a shared understanding of expectations and benefits, each student also agrees to an education policy and code of conduct. This process fosters a sense of achievement while preparing them for the responsibilities of adulthood as they embark on their educational journeys.
