How Standing in the Gap for Baby David led to a family reunion

The Baby Homes rescue vulnerable and orphaned children ages birth to 5 years old from dire circumstances. Likened to emergency foster care, when Zambia Social Welfare does not have an obvious solution for a child’s care, the Mamas eagerly accept the assignment. This care might last for days or years.  Regardless, each child is given immense love and attention for as long as God allows the privilege.

Baby David is an example of how God has used the Baby Homes to stand in the gap for a hurting father who simply wants his family together. David arrived at the Baby Homes at just five weeks old.

Tragically, David’s mother had died, leaving his grieving father without a wife or caretaker for his infant son and three older children. The children’s grandmother was able to step in and take care of the older three, but the additional newborn was more than she could handle. This family in turmoil had to make an agonizing but brave decision to allow Every Orphan’s Hope to care for David.

Mama Martha became his primary caregiver and tended to his every need. She responded to David with love, warmth, and care, helping him learn essential bonding skills.

Meanwhile, David’s father never lost hope, staying in continual contact with the social work team. He dreamed of the day his family would be under one roof again.

The day finally came when he confidently told the social work team that he was ready to have his son back. David’s father had remarried and was, at last, prepared for his now toddler son to join his siblings.

After a series of bonding sessions and home assessments, it was clear that David’s father was ready! David was reunited with his father and his siblings and continues to thrive.

David’s story began with uncertainty but ended with a beautiful family reunion. It’s supporters of the ministry that made this unparalleled care for David possible and his loving father’s dream come true.

We exist to glorify God and see orphans raised to life in Christ in a HOME, in a FAMILY, and in a COMMUNITY where they are known & loved.
