Fish & Loaves

Our business as mission ventures continue to develop and expand on the Chongwe property. The primary focus is marketing and selling the matured tilapia fish and launching the Nyangwena Bakery.

Harvesting Fish

The farm team in Chongwe is actively harvesting tilapia based on demand. Therefore, as word spreads about their fresh fish, an increasing number of individual customers are arriving to request several kilograms at a time. To fulfill smaller orders, the team uses a medium-sized net, casting it from the pond’s edge. In contrast, for larger orders, the team wades into the pond and employs a commercial net. Meanwhile, Charles Zulu, the Director of Business Initiatives, is working diligently to secure large buyers for the remaining stock.

Baking Bread

The bakery, our newest business as mission venture,  is making significant strides to open by the end of March! Charles just completed the final selection of the bakery equipment. The oven, proofer, mixer, molds, racks, and everything else needed to bake delicious bread are now on order! Additionally, Hendrix Ng’oma, Construction and Maintenance Coordinator, is completing the interior renovation before the equipment is delivered.

Naturally, the kids are excited to smell fresh bread baking each morning! Additionally, the community is buzzing with enthusiasm. There is no doubt that the entire Chongwe area will greatly benefit from having fresh bread readily available.
