A Story of Hope, Faith, and God’s Plan for Orphans
Lubumbe’s journey to becoming a midwife is a story of faith, perseverance, and God’s unwavering care. At just four years old, she lost both of her parents, leaving her with no memories of them. Only a few photographs serve as distant echoes of the life she once had. With nowhere else to go, she was taken in by her grandmother, a woman battling illness so severe that she couldn’t walk. There was no way to provide for basic needs, let alone dream of a future beyond mere survival.
Then, in 2009, at nine years old, Lubumbe entered the Family Homes in Chongwe, Zambia, where orphaned children are welcomed into families. Four boys and four girls come together, nurtured by a widowed Mama to create a new family. There, she found more than just food and shelter. She was surrounded by people who reflected the love of Christ. In this home, she experienced stability, belonging, and the assurance that God had not forgotten her.
For nearly 16 years, Every Orphan’s Hope helped her thrive, providing education, spiritual growth, and a sense of belonging.

How God Transformed an Orphan into a Midwife
Lubumbe was always a bright student. As a child, she would devour any book she could find, soaking up knowledge with an eagerness that set her apart. She was known for her quiet spirit, deep compassion, and unwavering faith. Though she once dreamed of becoming a lawyer, God had a different plan—one that would allow her to use her intelligence, selflessness, and hardworking nature to bring new life into the world.
In 2023, Lubumbe earned her diploma in midwifery from Levy Mwanawasa Medical University. Today, she works for the Ministry of Health in Zambia as a midwife, helping mothers bring their babies safely into the world. It’s a role that perfectly fits her heart for service and faith in God.
In her own words, “I love midwifery, I love God, and I am so thankful for Every Orphan’s Hope.”
Launched with Love: Lubumbe’s Independence
In early 2025, at 24 years old, now fully educated, employed, and with savings put aside, Lubumbe stepped confidently into independent adulthood. Yet even though she is living on her own, she is never truly alone. She will always have her brothers and sisters from the Family Homes to call family. Most importantly, she has her Heavenly Father guiding her every step of the way.
God’s Promise: A Father to the Fatherless
God is a father to the fatherless, and He keeps His promises. The same little girl who once felt so alone is now the one standing beside new mothers, ensuring that no baby enters the world without care and compassion.
Lubumbe, once orphaned and in need of love and security, is now a midwife, welcoming new life and offering the same steady presence she once longed for.
Even more, the love that transformed her life continues to unfold in a new generation. Her niece, Gloria, is growing up in the same Family Homes where Lubumbe once found hope. This is a powerful reminder that God’s care does not stop with one person.
He rescues, He redeems, He restores.
Lubumbe’s Story is Proof That Orphaned Children Can Thrive
Lubumbe is living proof that when a child is given love, stability, and the opportunity to grow, they can step into the future with confidence—ready to serve, love, and impact the world for Christ.
You Can Help a Child Like Lubumbe Thrive
Lubumbe’s journey to becoming a midwife was made possible through the love, support, and generosity of people who chose to invest in her future. Through child sponsorship, she had access to education, a loving family, and the encouragement to pursue her God-given potential.
Right now, there are children in the Family Homes with dreams just as big as Lubumbe’s who are not yet fully sponsored. When you sponsor a child today, you become part of their story. You walk alongside them as they grow, learn, and step into the future God has for them.
