Mama Ruthie Joins the EOH Family and Brings a Dose of Love and Comfort to Orphans in Chongwe

At the Chongwe Family Homes, a new melody fills the air – the sound of children’s laughter orchestrated by Mama Ruthie’s delightful presence – a woman who brings love and comfort to orphans. Her journey, marked by both joy and hardship, has shaped a heart overflowing with love for our children.

Mama Ruthie’s Background

Mama Ruthie’s story began in Lusaka, Zambia, but her path led her to secondary school in London. This dream ended when her sister, who cared for her, passed away. Demonstrating resilience, Mama Ruthie returned home, built a family, and found success as a custodial worker at the University Teaching Hospital.

In 1992, she and her husband joined Bread of Life Church in Lusaka. Both trained as marriage counselors, they loved serving God and the church.

After her husband fell ill and passed away in 2010, she devoted herself to raising her daughters and supporting them as a single parent.

Her Calling to Give Love and Comfort to Orphans

With her daughters now grown, Mama Ruthie felt a renewed calling. For two long years, she patiently waited for an opening at Every Orphan’s Hope, yearning to nurture young minds. Receiving her interview call was finally the sweet reward for her perseverance.

Mama Ruthie’s story exemplifies the power of God’s love and protection. Her experiences have equipped her with a profound understanding of family and an unyielding capacity to offer love and comfort to orphans. Her overflowing heart makes her a perfect fit for our EOH family. We give thanks for God’s grace in bringing her to us and warmly welcome Mama Ruthie with open arms.

Mama Ruthie replaces Mama Sarah, who recently retired. Visit here to learn more about Mama Sarah and how we celebrated her time with EOH.
