The grades are in! Let’s celebrate!!

Exams are serious business for Zambian students. Poor results on their 7th, 9th, or 12th-grade exams can instantly end their academic aspirations. Unlike educational alternatives in the US that can get even the worst student back on track, Zambian exams can make or break a student’s future.

In November of 2022, seven EOH students sat for their exams. We are excited to announce that all seven passed and have moved to the next grade!

The new 8th graders are:
Obert Chianga, Gloria Malama & Agness Mutapila

The new 10th graders are:
Susan Chinyundo, Emmanuel Musenge & Michael Harawa

We are so proud of these students. Let’s continue to cover them in prayer as they persist in meeting their academic goals!

Recent College Grads

Two of our college students recently graduated! Edna graduated with a diploma in social work, and Mary graduated with a diploma in pharmacy, both from Evelyn Hone College of Applied Arts and Commerce.

Unlike students in the US, who can enter the workforce in a part-time capacity as early as 16 years old, students in Zambia must wait until they have completed their higher education degree and fulfilled an internship, called an attachment.

Edna is currently completing her attachment with SOS Children’s Village before she can begin her job search.

Mary has already completed a pharmacy attachment and is now in the process of finding her first job.

We are praying for these amazing young women as they navigate and discern what God has for them next.

The Baby Homes launch first grade

Eight of our older children in the baby homes are now first graders! While we wait for direction from Zambian social welfare for these children, the leadership team at the baby home knew these kids’ educational futures couldn’t wait. The team sprung into action and developed a daily first grade class.

Already, these kids are reading in English and fully engaged in a robust first grade curriculum. These smiles say it all… They LOVE first grade!
